NO not true, BUT you have to make sure you have the carb adjusted correctly, its a fan cooled motor, you should be fine.

Uper is right! If what your friends were telling you was true, every lawnmower would seize up! All air cooled engines are the same principle wise, Just different oiling systems, etc. Check the spark plug when you run it, and compare it to the chart in the engine section of this forum. You might have to rejet the carb for the best results.

couple of things i noticed...

why are you running a solid rear axle? im assuming you're going to be running on dirt?

do you have enough room for the clutches to move in and out? seems like the drive clutch is pretty close to the cross member w/ the sproket.

besides my observations, good work

not to nit pick too much, but I also noticed that it is going to be a PITA to change that belt at all, never mind quickly.

hello thanks for advise,as for changing the belt u can change the belt but not quickly. the buggy is no longer in that configuration i have since cut the back off and put rear suspension on the buggy i will post photos thru the build if u want.as for the live axle the buggy will be for trails and on the river when it freezes. as for the expanding of the belt the driven pulley only expands one way so it wouldnt hit anything.this is wat it looks like now

i still have to cut back axle and insert u joints so axle's will move up and down i figure between 2 or 3 inches of travel that should be enough just want to soften the ride. thanks again guys

oh i see wat u meant about the belt, that was during mock up that whole thing was just tacked there it came apart very soon after that.

hello
does any one have an idea of the power of this motor, the guy i bought it from used it to pull broken sleds off the ice.i will probably use a 10-13 tooth drive sprocket and a 64 tooth driven sprocket. do u think it will spin the tires or even pull a wheelie? i just have no idea of wat to expect. when setting up belt does the belt have to be tight between the clutches or a little loose? now the side with the springs on the driven clutch does it matter wat way it faces and if so how do i tell? ii thank all u for your help, i became a member of three forums to do this project

The belt should be all the way inside the clutch on the engine and all the way out on the other one. There should be about 1/2" of deflection or so on the belt.

Is that a belt or a chain that drives the rear axle?
