Anybody heard things about the Hot Seat Pipes chubby single pipe? Do any of you know of another good brand of a single pipe that doesn't have a muffeler already on it.

I heard some pipes this past winter. I do not know if they were what you are inquiring about but they sure were loud. I think all that noise they produce sux.

I think the HP's they add rules. I kind of like loud too, and aroud here no one cares about noise cause everyone has snomobiles and alot of those are piped, have a can, or both.

Not sure what sled you are looking for on pipes, most of the newer performance sleds have a seperate can! Louder does not mean more HP! And if HP is what your looking for a supper single by itself isn't going to give it to you! A pipe alone will only let an engine breath, you then have to be able to bring more air in, and transfer it to the combustion chamber. The only time a pipe by itself will show much gaines is if the stock pipe is very restrictive! I haven't seen a perf sled with a overly restrictive exhaust in a long time. As a mater of fact they are now looking at the Y pipes, something I have been doing for 25 years!
If you're serious about HP gains let me know and I can help!

Mine does have a separate can. I already have a rumble pack on it so if I got a pipe that was that is made to fit the stock muffler intake I could use my can that I already have. I never said that noise was the same as horse power. I just said I don't mind my sled being loud and I kind-of like the loud sound. What are some of your other ideas? Are you saying that I should just get a good y-pipe?

If you read the articals everyone is making a Y pipe to add HP! This is the most important part of the pipe! it is the most restrictive and the first thing your exhaust sees (except porting). And if you really want to add HP a mild port job on most engines (and even more so on non high performance models) will really help! Just getting the air out alone wont help as much as if you can get it in faster too!

Where can I get a y-pipe? What brands do you recommend?

For what sled? Sometimes you may be able to clean up your existing Y pipe? You might try gasket matching it first? Get a new exhaust manifold gasket and center it on the pipe, see how much bigger it is than the pipe, can you open it up that much? The do the same to the jug! You can scribe the jug, and the pipe and even go a happy inbetween as long as they are the same or the Y is slightly bigger. Also look down in the Y and grind any slag, and smoth everything you can! You then can do similar to the pipe conection to make that transition better. Next step would be porting the engine, and looking at the intake track!
