Running to rich???

I had the sled home to "summerize" it this past weekend. wash, wax, grease, you know the usual...

when i went to get it back on the trailer, i started it up, let it run for a few to clear the smoke, then applied the gas, and nothing happened. (fyi...to get it off the trailer, i pulled it off, never started it)

so, the motor stopped rev'ing at 4000rpm, but continuded to run, and the sled didnt move. the secondary clutch didnt engage, plus the track didnt move. had to pretty much muscle the sled back on the trailer.

temps outside were 70's, so i figured it was running rich...never pulled the plugs to check..

but wanted to get your opinion if that (to rich) was the problem or not. this is the first time the sled has ever done something like this. any other time ive ran it in the "summer" its always had enough oomph to get it going, and to even get it on the trailer!

FYI..last time i rode the sled, in the winter, it ran like a champ.

any help would be appreciated.

WAY too rich, to the point that it fouled one plug. If you remove the plugs, you'll be able to tell.

I had the same problem when I bought one of my sleds. I got it in the summer, could barely make it onto the trailer, it had NO power. For a quick fix, I moved the e-clip on the jet needle up one notch (makes the midrange leaner by dropping the needle into the needle jet slightly) and I had plenty of power to move it around on it's own. You have to remember to re-position the e-clip come winter, though... lean is bad!! It was pretty amazing how much that slight adjustment affected the sled's power in hot temps.

Check your belt too! No snow would mean no lube and it is very hard on belts!
