snowmobile gear

Guys,

I need gear for myself and my daughter. What kind of helmets do you use? Do the electric shields work well? Are there brands or types to stay away from? Anyone using the full face flip front helmets?

What material for jackets and where is the best place to buy.

The modular helmets are quite nice, especially if you wear glasses. HJC makes a nice one at a reasonable price.
As far a clothing, you will need to try some on for fit, but then you can probably find a better price online than at a store. I personally use Arctiva for my jacket and bibs.

as RJ said, HJC makes a nice modular hemet. I do not have an electric visor but would recommend one. As for clothing. If you do a lot of lake running I would look into a floater suit(Mustang Ice Rider is one brand). I personally really like gore-tex clothing. Very light weight, waterproof, warm and breathable. I have a Coldwave gore-tex coat, bib and gloves and love them! However anything with Gore-tex is very expensive. Took me a while to save up the $$$ to buy mine.

I wear Coldwave clothing, excellant warmth, lightweight, and comfortable. I have both a Ski-Doo modular and Zeus modular, both work well. On warmer days I wear a motocross helmet with goggles.

I purchased an HJC modular, if you go that route, they run a little small. I ordered a Large and could not fit into it, so my wife uses it and is happy.

I have a blue Coldwave coat and black bibs I'd sell you for like $350. I wore it 2 seasons but I am switching to Skidoo,so I'd like to match the sled better. I am about 6'1" tall and 245 pounds just to give you a hint on size.
I also would have a Skidoo BV2S helmet that I'd sell. It's black size XL I believe for like $200. I wear open face snocross style helmets now. The Skidoo helmet works really good in the cold without electric visors. Let me know if interested.

Don't know what Brand you ride but, myself I wear Cat bibs and jacket! They are very warm and wind proof! All your Brand clothing is going to be very good quality, warm and last! I would go to the swap meets and see what you like, after a couple of rides you wont be able to tell they were used! And you wont look so cherry the first couple of rides either!
