Angry Frost Bite

Well it bit me..In the face Its -35*C and its been a week since i rode so i took the sled out for a lil spin. And I wear a motocross helmet with goggles and a balaclava. Well it kept falling down so i just left it. And after a while my face was stinging so i went in and then it REALLY started to hurt so now i just big bumps on my cheeks....this sucks and hurts. Any of you guys/girls have any stories about this that would like to share!

It can set in quite quickly! I rode for 5 minutes testing a sled without gloves. I couldn't feel my hands when I was done. No harm done, but scary!

I got it bad last year... I was out at my dads friends in the country.. We were riding into town (10 miles) and i forgot to put my breathbox in.... Dumb idea... WEll i got into town and went inside... My cheeks started feeling HOT... Then my uncles like "What happend to you" then i looked in the mirror... I had a goggle outline on my face... And my nose was bit... It went away in like 2 weeks... But it sucks at first... Trust me it looks kinda funny when you have Clear goggle prints on your face... Then everyone asks what happend... My Ceramics teacher asked if i got attacked by a bear lol! it was a joke though

Yeah I got it about 4 weeks ago with a open face helmet and goggles. Was trying a different kind of mask that clipped onto my goggles, not good. Within 10 minutes in 17 below temps,my face got it. Luckily I had my breathbox along, then it was better. Now i bought a NoFog mask with the breathdeflector built in,hope that is the answer. Just put Neosporin on and keep it clean, the bite goes away if you didn't get it too bad.

There was a guy here, who whenever he raced cross country, he would duct tape his entire face. Sounds pretty crazy but it works. Probably hurts alot to get off though, but it does beat getting frost-bite.

Any place that gets frostbite becomes more susceptible to it. Get frotbit once and it will happen faster the next time. The Duct Tape actually does work. All of the IronDog racers use it. (Which started yesterday and is the longest snowmobile race there is, in some of the worst weather conditions). It looks funny but it works.
I remember my dad coming in from riding and sticking his face in front of the heater and slowly peeling the facemask from his beard. Those were the days of open-face helmets
