Electrical problem

I have an 06 500 dragon that has an electrical problem. When the brakes are applied, the headlights dim. Until I find/fix the problem, I have simply unplugged the brake light switch in the handlebar, but have no brake lights. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds like your wire going t othe taillight may have a short in it,or rubbed through on the tunnel. Remove the seat and inspect the wire.

How do you remove the seat? I haven't gotten real familiar with this sled yet.

I pulled the seat, the wires look good and feel loose and free under the tank which runs the length of the seat on top of the tunnel. When I unplugged the lights at the rear and applied the brakes, there was no affect on the head lights, which I am thinking rules out the assembly on the handle bars. When I plug the lights back in, it almost appears the lights may be too big drawing too much power.

It might be the connector in the brake light itself, or a bad bulb, which grounds out when it's on.

Put new bulbs in, still does it. How would I check the connector? There is just the brown and orange wire coming from the brake lever with two male bullet style ends.

Pull the two wires from the brake lever and jumper them. If the problem is still there, you know that it is not the brake switch.
