Unhappy My season is over

Sad to say but my season is over for the year. A couple buddies and i went for a ride friday night. We were going across a field and i did'nt see the barb wire fence and busted right through it. Then my buddy who was behind me locked up his brakes and slid right into me braking my left leg. The only damage done to my sled is a few scratches on the hood from the fence and the back idler wheel broke where my buddy hit the sled. So if you're looking for a good sled with less then 1,000 miles on it for cheap let me know. It's a 2005 polaris switchback 600ves.

Accidents happen. But riding at night, especially if its not somewhere you haven't been during the day, is risky at the best of times.
I hope everything is going ok, and you make a full recovery, but think twice about selling the sled, you can jump right back in the saddle next year.

Thats a bummer!! An accident involving a barbed wire fence is usually a tragic one. Hope ya heal up soon. Don't give up the sled!!

Wow Dude I'm glad your alright for the most part! I have a buddy that I still raz about going through one about 10 years ago. We were drag racin a field and we were on our way back I was leading and let off to move to the ditch to go around ( here's the razzing part) the fence we both had to go around so knew was there!! He just hit it at wide open
I was horafied pulling up behind and seing his helmet spinning on the snow. He got very, very lucky. the barbs hit him in each sholder, and chin, digging into his suit and spun him off the sled. If he would have been going slower and didn't break the wire on either side of him, he would be dead!! not just with a scar on his chin!!

Well when i seen the fence i just put my head down on the gas tank and prayed for the best. I was going about 85 when i hit it. Then only thing that saved me from being in worst shape is the windshield bag it kept the windshield from folding down and snaped the top row. I'll be in the cast for 8 weeks which sucks. We got about 2" of fresh powder outside right now and it's still coming down good and all i can do is sit inside and watch

Well I'm glad you're not dead. A broken leg is a hell of a lot better than death. Chalk this up to a learning experience.

Bad deal, but at least it's just a broken leg. I know it doesn't really make you feel better, but it could have been a lot worse. And like they said - hang onto the sled - you can go next season!

HEY!!!!! Welcome back IRS!

Wild Child - After a bout with a barbed-wire fence, you are indeed lucky to be here to talk about it. Most people lose their head in a situation like that! I don't mean to preach at you, but what were you thinking??? If you hit a fence, I'm assuming you were the first tracks through it... and you did it at 85? Yikes! Blaze the trail at a reasonable speed, look for hazards, THEN go back and run it at 85! Please... I'd hate to see anybody around here end up as a fatality.

I'm sure you've learned from that mistake by now, and you'll have 8 weeks to replay it in your head. Could have been a lot worse. Glad you're okay... Heal quickly, then get back on and ride safely.

I agree with everyone else. Very glad to hear that your accident wasn't worse!! I hope you heal up well and get out there again next season. Just be more cautious next time and think of this as a learning experience.

Heal well and keep the sled. A few scratches and a busted idler is an easy fix, easier than your leg though. At least you saw it in time to react to save your neck. Keep on the forum and we will keep you entertained.

Glad you got out with only a broken leg. I went through a barbed wire fence when I was a teenager on a motorcycle.

Dang man, you are very lucky. I am happy to hear you had a good outcome after tangeling with a field fence. Others posted the outcome usually is very tragic which is a very true statement. The big guy upstairs was definately looking over you. Heal up and ride on brutha.

Lesson's learned. 85 mph at night can be costly. Be aware of your surroundings.Take care of that leg. Glad your all right otherwise. Be more careful next time. We don't need to loose a sled member here.
