Sad stuff... Rochester is my neck of the woods. Haven't done a lot of local riding yet, but folks gotta use some common sense. Sounds like both of these incidents were easily preventable. Gives the sport a black eye, nonetheless, and it really sucks for the families left behind! Please use your brains, and ride cautiously!

The one guy was trying to go under a gate. Now, if it were me... I wouldn't pin it to go under a gate that I wasn't sure I'd fit under. You know what I mean??? Barbed wire that you can't see is one thing; but a gate you can see plainly is a whole 'nother thing.
The other guy hit a concrete post along the side of some railroad tracks. Well, let's see... it's illegal to ride on RR-owned property in the first place, and pinning it on un-ridden sections is ill-advised.
Maybe folks should have to take an IQ test before being able to register a sled.

Ironic - I posted about being careful yesterday, and then that very afternoon, I took a took a nasty spill on my sled.
It was at a road crossing - the snow bank was a LOT higher than I expected or realized. Must have been taller than I was, and it was pretty much a cliff. My sled came down on it's nose - hard - the next thing I know I'm laying on my back in the road looking at the sky. Apparently, I did a somersault of some sort right over the handlebars.
Cracked the front plastic nose of my Sabercat. And today both wrists and my right leg are lame as hell. I was really lucky though. But you gotta respect how badly these machines can mess you up in an instant.
