Removing studs??????

Can you remove studs or is it a pain? My track is mint but the trail system by me doesn't allow studs, besides that my front heat exchanger lost a fight with a stud and I don't want that happening again.

Drill and a socket with a allen wrench to fit the stud backs and nuts and probably less than a 1/2 hour to remove 144 unless you have break off studs.

WOW you must be good and fast!! It would take me twice as long even if they were brand new!!!
Removing studs is a pain in the a**!! I have tried and ended up replacing the track!

if you have access to an impact wrench definitely take advantage of it. they come out in no time that way

stud tip

yes a impact is an advantage, a trick a friend told me after spending a full day removing 192 old worn and rusty studs may help. First spray all nuts with a lubricant(wd40, bust rust, etc.) let sit for a little bit as you are rounding up sockets, allen wrenches, and hopefully a impact. Take a piece of round bar stock about 1/2 in diameter(a breaker bar will work if it has to) and insert it at the back of the track so it will roll up to the back of the stud and a rear suspension wheel, turn the track so the bar applies pressure to the back of stud and wheel. With any luck the pressure from the bar will hold the stud from spinning, hit it with the impact at full power and most of the time the nut will back right off. With this method it took about 20 min. to remove 96 from my wifes sled.Hope this helps someone

What if you cut the "pin" of the stud off and leave the nut and backer plate? I can see that being real quick with small bolt cutters or a cutoff tool.
