Question lift kit, Skidoo formual Z 583

here is a question probably never asked before...

My 99 SkiDoo formula Z 583 lays VERY low to the snow... It is not like it is dragging or anything, but when i go into 2' of powder with good base under it, forget about it.... I even went to get over a little snow pile and got hi-centered on that...

I do not see the rear as being the problem, but the front is what i see is too low...

What would be involved with getting the front end up higher....

any help appreciated!!

thanks! erick

can you post a pic? a 99 shouldnt be that low. something seems wrong. do you have full travel on both shocks? did someone change springs to shorter ones? please see if you can get some pics and we can help more.

when its sitting like that and you take and pull up on the bumper, how much vertical travel do you get on the bumper? your shocks and springs could be shot.

i just went out, when i pick up the front, it doesnt give, i end up picking up the whole sled, however if i sit on it it will flex....

the resr can be lifted 1.5-3" untill you lift the track up....

i dont know what the PO had done to the sled, it is possible that the springs are not stock.... i know some one has the same year sled but it has black ski's and i have yellow.... i have shock covers, he didnt... problably very minor things but i figured it wouldnt hurt to mention...

what can i do to lift er?

well first of all remove the shocks. there has to be a reason it wont come up at all when you pick it up. its either strapped down like they do for racing, or you have a different shock.spring package on there which is wrong, or they may be bent. i would guess someone swapped shocks on you and you have a short travel shock on it. look on ebay and see what you can find, that model sled you should be able to get away pretty cheap.

Gotta agree, a friend of mine has one that sits just like it. Either yours is good or his is messed up too.

Some compression of the suspension is normal when you add your weight to the sled. If there was none, I'd be looking for problems.
