1998 Skidoo MXZ500 problems

Any common 98 mxz 500 problems? I can't find much about it anywhere on the net. I bought it not running, so I rebuilt the engine not really knowing all too much how, but I learned as I went. I got it running, ran it for 20 miles, and after putting gas in it wouldn't start again. I've heard it could either be vapor lock or air in the coolant lines, any ideas on how to fix either the easiest, and any other common problems these sleds have?

neither scenario you suggested sound like a possibility. if it was running fine and you put gas in it there may be something wrong with the fuel pump, carbs or fuel. did it run for a min. or two before it died after filling up? may have water in the gas???

it didn't start at all after i had filled it up. sprayed some ether in it, changed the plugs, didn't even fire once. that was last week thursday, i just had it out today (tuesday) and it started on the second pull. it ran for a little while, wouldn't go over 6K rpm, and then died after about 5 minutes. we figured one of the plugs was dead, even though neither had gone more than 1/4 mile....anyways, switched plugs, started right up, full power, rode it for 30 minutes with no problems, everything seems fine, but im sure its not yet.

sounds like you fouled a plug or two. may have a carb issue still, i would keep a close eye on it, maybe do some plug checks before going anywhere with it.
