..POTENTIAL SIGNIFICANT SNOW STORM FOR BOXING DAY..

ALTHOUGH A GREEN CHRISTMAS IS IN THE OFFING FOR ALL OF SOUTHERN
ONTARIO INCLUDING SKI COUNTRY..MOTHER NATURE MAY BE DELIVERING A
LATE CHRISTMAS GIFT TO SNOW LOVERS.

A STRONG JET STREAM CURRENTLY ALONG THE WEST COAST IS LIKELY TO
PHASE WITH A DEVELOPING DISTURBANCE OVER SOUTHERN TEXAS. THEY ARE
EXPECTED TO MERGE OVER THE GULF STATES ON CHRISTMAS EVE THEN CREATE
AN INTENSIFYING STORM APPROACHING THE LOWER GREAT LAKES LATE ON
CHRISTMAS DAY. TEMPERATURES WILL BE MILD ENOUGH THAT PRECIPITATION
WILL BEGIN IN THE FORM OF RAIN LATER ON CHRISTMAS DAY AND CONTINUE
MUCH OF THE NIGHT. ON BOXING DAY..IT APPEARS THAT SUFFICIENT COLD
AIR WILL BE TAPPED THAT THE RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW.

THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THIS STORM MAY BECOME SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH
TO PRODUCE A MAJOR SNOW STORM FOR MUCH OF SOUTHERN AND EASTERN
ONTARIO COMPLETE WITH THE USUAL SUITE OF HEAVY SNOW..STRONG WINDS
AND DRIFTING SNOW.

STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES ON THE TRACK OF THIS POTENTIAL STORM AND THE
CHANCES OF RECEIVING A WHITE BOXING DAY. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION MAY
ALSO BE FOUND BY CONSULTING THE LATEST PUBLIC FORECAST. THE NEXT
PUBLIC FORECAST WILL BE ISSUED BY 11 AM.

i heard yesterday that we're not suposed to get snow until early feburary.. and it will probably last for a week, and that will be our sledding season. wo hoo! lookin forward to that sleddings a dead sport now guys... and not for the reasons we thought, we always thought it would be because of the noise and trails shutting down... well its was the constant warming temperatures we've had... it gets worse and worse every year... i might keep the sled i have now... but i wont be getting a new one... and i sure as hell wont be paying insurance/ trail permits on it... but what can ya do...

actually there is... here's a link S.N. Home Snow Makers

Here's another idea... a woman in my area wanted snow for Christmas so her daughter went out and loaded up a truck with the snow that the zamboni left behind the local ice arena...she got 2-3 inches in her yard...it was in the local paper...you could always try that

Aw, don't tell me that! The only thing we're lookin' forward to is our yearly ride on the French. That's at the end of February. I'm keepin' in touch with my local friends up there and they're wondering if the river'll freeze at all!

I love sledding. I would probably still have my sled sitting here even if I only used it for a week a season. That being said this year I didn't bother buying a trail pass, I'll just buy the odd weekend one to save a little $

i enjoy sledding a lot and was looking forward to the snow and the sledding season for quite a while... but its almost january and we havent seen anything more than an inch... i guess its time for me to cut my losses on the insurance i bought, the new helmet i bought for this year, and the 200 bucks i forked out for a trail permit... im about ready to pull the bike back out and start riding it again...
