getting snowmobile off trailer
Ok I know this is dumb question but I am stumped. I have a trailer that is not a tilt bed. My snowmobile does not have reverse. how do I back it off my trailer?? I know many people put them in pick-up boxes and they get them out. How is it done? Do you just drag them out??
Thanks

if the trailer is not a tilt, do you have ramps? most trailers that are not tilt have a space under the bed of the trailer to hold the ramps...plus there are clips welded to the ends for the ramps to attach to...
regardless, to get it off is easy...just pull the sled off as if you were driving it in reverse. putting it back on would create the other half to your problem.
got any pics of your trailer/sled setup? that would also help

If you have a low trailer you can unhook it and drive it off the front thats what i did when i never had reverse.
or if it was on the truck just pull it out and let it drop. oh wait thats still what i do but now i have reverse and pretty much back it out and then lift the front down so it clears and let er drop.

Snowbanks are a mans best friend when it comes to hauling in a pick up.
Just find a snowbank of appropriate height (a little higher than the bed/trailer), and yank it off into the snow bank. To get it back on, just ride up the back of the snowbank. Letting it drop out of a pick-up will probably end up damaging something after doing it all season, not to mention that unless you're Lou Forigno there's no way to lift it back up into your pick-up/ on the trailer.

I have a ramp to drive it in but it always falls out if i try to back it down. when i unload i put it in reverse and back it till the track touches the ground cause its so long the front end is still on the tailgate and then i lift it off the tailgate and drop it. trust me a 2 or 3 ft. drop wont hurt your sled i do it all the time. it takes alot harder hits when your ditch bangin or jumpin over approaches all day!!

You have to realize that not everyone has a newer mountain sled. Compare the suspension travel of your RMK to that of an old citation, or early 90's touring sled. Fine for yours, but maybe not so much for others.

ok wise guys. got a 12' trailer with 2' metal sides and attached gate. getting on is no problem. getting a zrt800 off the trailer is murder in the snow covered trailer.
here is what i do. drive a metal steak into ground behind trailer a foot or so out from end of ramp. attach strap to rear sled bumper and then drive vehicle and trailer away leaving sled behind with strap and steak. works. do get some laughs though.

thanks for all the sugestions. I unhooked the trailer and folded up the front wheel and just drove it off the front. I didn't think this would work as good as it did.
Thanks again

Metal steak sounds a bit tough... I'd rather have a rib-eye!
I think you meant stake...

But sometimes we just have to give the grief for the spelling and context.

Most people don't worry about spelling when they send text messages. Most people try to do a decent job on the foums....call me old school, but I consider it somewhat rude to write "gobble-de-guck" when you're asking other members to read it!! I take a lot of pride at having good written communications......it is expected in the job I do!!

That's definitely "old school" in that it is something that's *not* taught in school anymore... I cringe when I see emails sent out at work from V.P.'s and the like with spelling errors (and that's coming from someone WITHOUT a college education!). I think it is very important to learn how to spell (and to communicate efficiently in writing). You will need those skills your entire life!
Having said that; - I was just having a little fun with the spelling of steak/stake. Hey; I get bored easily when there's no snow...
