Decal Remover
Hey,
Just curious what you guys use to clean up your sleds hood after you take things like trail passes, registration numbers, or any other sort of decal off your sled...how do you get all the gooey crap that is left on the finish off safely without harming your finish?
Thanks!

Mineral spirits, paint thinner, WD-40, or anything faily mild...even gasoline will work DO NOT use lacquer thinner, acetone or other harsh solvents.

I've used a cotton ball & Goo Gone on my car when de-badging it. Didn't hurt the finish at all.

I reccomened Gasoline, Sled hoods are designed to withstand a certain amount of exposure to gasoline, and it's basiclly free, Smother an old rag in some gasoline and start rubbing!

Wow...someone referred to gasoline as being basically free...I don't think anyone on this forum has EVER made that statement! Thanks for the help!! I'll be sure to give some of those suggestions a shot!

I get the decal very hot 1st by placing a halogen lamp very close and then peal it off. I clean up what is left over with wd40 and a lot of rubbing. The warmer the goo is the easier it comes off.

Try a product called "GOOF OFF" I have used in on my commercial vehicles and it works great. In Canada you can buy it for about 5 bucks, in the States not sure.

I refered to Gas oas being basicly free because if you take a small rag and dip it into your gas tank... Well you do the math, Why spend 5$ on Goo-Off or w/e when you can just spend 15c of gas...

You have a point there, Just keep your helmet on though and no one will notice.

I vote for Goo Gone. I use a blow dryer to heat everything up nicely, and if you go slow, you might not leave any residue after taking the decal off.
