Is it old fuel? It'll smoke like crazy with old fuel in it.

Hmm... maybe I need to get that tank off my sled then. It smokes a lot too. I just figured it was normal. Good idea!

Did you remove the tank and clean the bottom of it out? I am in the process of trying to do that right now. It would probably be beneficial to your sled to get all the sediment out of there. I need to fill up mine with fresh gas too, once I get the stupid tank out.

I would try running high octane in it also this may cut down on the smoke. The carbs are probably all tarnished up also.

To remove the seat, there should be 2 bolts near the rear of the track, underneath the snow flap. Undo those 2 bolts, and the seat should come right off.

High octane doesn't change smoke charasteristics. Higher octane fuel only prevents detonation in high compression high rpm situations. Waste of money to fix this problem period.

Mine usually smoke quite a bit at first start-up, especially my '80 Jag. I would STILL suggest checking to see if your oiler is returning to the rest position at idle. Sometimes they get a bit gunked up, and won't return to the idle stop.

Otherwise, enjoy the smell of that sweeeeeeet 2-stroke smoke!

You can put it on a stand, and get the track alignment set. Kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. That will be an excuse to run it for a while, and it will require some RPM. That should settle the smoke issue... (running it at higher RPM for a few minutes). Just watch the temp gauge. Normally, a 15 minute (or so) run will NOT bring the temp up at all.
