Does RTV on exhaust springs work to cut vibration noise?

The previous owner gooped up the springs and most of it has fallen off. I have seen pics with other people that have done it. Does it work to cut down on rattle noise?

It dampens vibration when the springs reach their resonant frequency. Keeps them from fatiguing/breaking.

Have PSI pipes which have very long springs on a 92 Wildcat.
Springs would break in less than 100 miles of riding without
the RTV on them. They go several hundred miles gooped up with the RTV.
Didn't really notice a difference in noise, probably because there is so much
other noise and spring noise is drowned out.

The Durometer of a polymer ... Flexibility, resonance capture will absorb vibration.

Adds weight to the component though plus it is difficult to control/determe temperature of the material for the operating environment of the sled.

Much research on this for stealth submarines.

Can research dampening, reuduce vibration on propulsion systems USN.

Only if they are small enough.

I would think that making a heat resistant rubber plug to press into the spring would be a better solution than using something that just deteriorates with heat and vibration.

Seen plugs back on the boat.
Plus they would have different types of mounts and wrps on systems.
You could find a petroleum fire haz mat suit good for 900 degrees and cover up the muffler to absorb vibration. Proper term would be lagging.

i used to break exhaust springs all the time until i put a strip of high temp RTV on them, it lasts for years, havent broken a spring in about seven years now.
