Warm soapy water and a soft cloth- nothing else. They scratch too damn easy...

I agree soap and water when you can, but I use safety glass whipes while I am out on the trail. I get them from work, they work pretty good. make sure that you have the large debris off of the shield before you go rubbing it though.

If I have lots of dirt on the shield I wash with the water going up and the shield down allowing dirt to fall from gravity on water droplets.

Air blow it
Use brush (lens brush or fur of hood.)
water
blow dry ( preferably by sled going fast)
then
if still dirty
warm soapy water
repeat sled drying.
Don't let water stay on lens because of mineral deposits drying on lens.
I also coated the outside lens with wax. Do the same thing on the windshield.
If you do wax the inside wait for it to dry cause the vapors from the wax might irritate eyes.
Could also coat inside with medically approved oil ... Like KY or a bay oil. (Keep it clean guys)
Protective barrier to keep surface slippery.

Cat Crap does a great job at preventing fogging on the inside of goggles or face shields. Works awesome. It's a denser product than petroleum jelly; more like a paste wax.
And like SEG said.. soft cloth only. Unless the lens is hardened (such as polycarbonate) you will microscratch the surface using paper towels. Paper towels are actually pretty abrasive on plastics...

Windex will take any mirrored coating off the shield, be aware of that! (Trust me, I know.....)

Don't use the stuff out of the litter box!!! It will only smear, and it smells funny too.
Link goes to Anti-fog Lens Cleaner. That's what Cat Crap is. I would only use it on a pre-cleaned shield though. Pre-clean with warm soapy water, and dry with a cloth (I use my wife's dish towels... don't tell her! )
The Cat Crap goes on similar to a thick wax. Adding a drop of water helps spread it farther. Let it dry then wipe it off with... you guessed it... one of your wife's clean dish towels.
Like someone else said - don't use paper towels. Very abrasive...

If you read the manufacturer's instructions, they always recommend using "warm soapy water". Always! Windex is a harsh chemical, when it comes to plastic. I would not use it. I'd use dish soap instead.

I've used it too... it's not like it's going to instantly destroy your shield.
The original question was "what do you guys use" but it turned into "what's the BEST thing to use". I think you got good answers on both accounts...
Gotta love this forum!!!

Eye glass cleaner is good with a lint free cloth.
