I bet no ones heard this one before!

Aloha to all! I'm the FNG here but I've been lurking for about 4hrs today. I've read many, many threads and the respective replies and I must say you all are the greatest! So, again I'm a new guy. Infact I don't own a sled(YET!!!). I live in N.E. Montana where if you buy a sled it is a mountain sled...although it's not what you think...you buy a mountain sled so you can put it on a trailer and drive to the other side of the state and well, go to the mountains to sled. Now it's not cost effective to do this alone so you end up throwing your sled in someones trailer(and believe me, these are GREAT Guys and Gals!!!). Well, I wanna be the odd one and purchase a "hybrid". I've rented a 700 RMK and loved it! In fact there are quite a few Polarises around here...seems to be the sled of choice. THere are no dealers within 290mi. Well, for polaris anyway. There is a 'Doo dealer closer-160mi. And an Arctic Cat dealer in Kalispell, of whom I know personally, 400+mi. Oh, and a Yami dealer here in town. So, I think I covered all the hybrid model owners right? I love to go FAST! Is there a trade off for this? I also got hooked on powder! And there are NO trails where I live. And for the most part, I can ride my Hayabusa every month of the year(within reason). Hence the reason everyone here buys mountain sleds...not enough snow! So, who wants to give their opinion on the BEST hybrid? Ok, lemmy get this straight, No '07's till spring? I'm more than likely going to buy an '06 if I buy tomorrow? I see that you all are talking '06 hold overs already. Is this how this works? Wow! I know that's alot for a beginning, If I need to clarify anything let me know. Again, thanks for being a great group! It actually reminds me of the KLR 650 page! See ya, Walt

Welcome! 07's come out around september, so the prices on the 06's start going down to move them out about now, just like a car dealership. IR Josh is good with answering mtn sled questions, hopefully he can help you!

There's some good hybrids out there. I personally shopped around alot and ended up going hybrid because it gave me both sides of the coin that I needed for my area and type of sledding up north here. I went into this completely impartial and didn't even look at brand names but rather overall performance and reviews. Everywhere I looked I could not find a single bad word about the arctic cat's crossfire. Some even toted it as the best cat made . Here's a few links to reviews on it in general for more info other than just myself:

crossfire - Snowmobile Fanatics

Vehicle Reviews for 2006 Arctic Cat CrossFire 7

There's more if you google them. Overall if you want a good "general look" at the hybrids here's some of the differences:

Polaris makes the Switchback 600HO, it has deeper lugs than the crossfire and a 144" track. However the crossfire has a 136" (easier to handle on trails when needed) and more power (140hp in the crossfire7 and 125hp in the switchback HO). The new crossfire's come standard w\reverse and with electric start. The 06's didn't but a reverse kit isn't that bad to install IF you really want it. Doo makes the renegade but honestly, and I know alot of doo obsessed riders, not many people had alot of great things to say about them. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

In the end if you want to keep prices reasonable look for a last years model on clearance to make room for the 07's. I found a great deal on my crossfire7 this way

Hey, I live about 25miles outside of Kalispell, heh. If you only ride your sled over here in the mountains, why not get a mountain sled? Trust me, when you are up there in the powder, you will want a good sized track.
