Hi, I'm new to the club, and I need some help.I just bought a 1985 Polaris Indy Tail (440). When I got it home, it started first pull. I put in the garage, and now it is very hard to start. I think the previous owner fogged it for storage, so that will explain the excess smoke. I put new plugs, and new gas and it is still very tough to start. I finally got it running, and it is very slow on go. Once it gets moving, it seems to run fine, but from a stop it is tough to get moving. It seems like the carbs need to be set. Can someone tell me how to set them? Thanx in advance.

Once the get wet, they do not work well.
Obviusly you have another problem.
Check that you have a strong spark and that the plugs are gapped correctly.
You should use a spark detector to check for weak or no spark.

Did the previous owner use anything in the gas (stabil)?
If not, drain the tank and fill with fresh, remove and clean the carbs (although it seems to be getting enough fuel).
Refer to the how to's in the tech section of thei site.
