V-max 600 destroys tree
So i'm a new rider, started last season when i bought my cousins 94 v-max 600 since he bought a polaris 700. I rode my cousins too which is an awesome ride, but for a beginner i love my yamaha its a beast. My second ride on it i went up to stampede pass where i was trying to keep up with some very experienced riders/friends of my cousins. They all have newer rmk800 and one has some crazy polaris 1000. I went up this crazy hill hit a rut flipped my sled straight up had it land on me, tried to stop it from rolling but was impossible then it rolled about 20 times got back on the skis, went about a 1/2 mile down the hill and crashed into a 10" diameter tree standing about 25 ft tall and sheared it down. Sled only needed three parts, one which was the front metal bumper, new hood and some horseshoe looking part that goes underneath ur footrail. Oh yeah and did i mention i thought my sled was gonna be totalled, yet i was able to fire it right up first pull and ride it out of there, just had to zip tie my plastics since it cracked two of them but i repaired with a little fiberglass work. haha just thought i would say it by far is one bad ass tough sled, seen another sled have more damage from way less of a crash. Now everyone that i was riding with that day calls me a tree killer, lol. just thought i would share my second time out crash experience. I'm more of a motorcycle rider myself since i raced for 4 years doing mainly flat track but some motocross also only local races those. any know of some suspension upgrades i could do for my vmax? would appreciate any advice thanks

welcome to the forums
fyi, im not so sure your buddy was riding a polaris 1000, biggest sled they have/made was last years 900. anywho, glad to hear your ok. imo, you might want to take a few trips and see how the sled behaves before you try and keep up with (more) experienced riders like your friends.
snowrida might be able to help you out with any suspension upgrades, i know he has a 500 or 600 v maxx.
im sure others will chime in and give you help/advice. good luck.

Welcome to the forums
That tree must have been dead, because a ten inch diameter tree could stop a pick-up truck. Glad you lived to tell the story. Next time ride within your limits, I'm sure your buddies will wait for you at the next junction.

hehe bingo. I can attest to that, I hit a tree about 8" in diameter in a dodge 3500 diesel extended cab and it stopped the truck dead in it's tracks. Dead trees on the other hand enjoy breaking

it's a ski doo mach z 1000
sorry two of my buddies have like 2005 rmk 800's and then my cousin has a 97 rmk 700 and then the other has a ski doo mach z 1000, that thing is a beast and a bad ass. Then again he rides like a crazy ass, and side hills that thing everywhere. yeah thanks i have pictures of the tree on my cousins cell phone it looks more like 7-8" in diameter when i looked at it again, but they all said it definitely wasn't dead just some how sheared it down. anyhow thanks for the advice about the suspension.
