risers

i just made some risers for the new sled and they look pretty good ,i thought. once i got them on i noticed that they stick out below the handlebar pad thing. do they make something to cover that up or is that just how it's gotta be? i have a few pics of it, what do you guys think?

how high are your risers?

i took a collar off a classic touring to cover the area between the bottom of the handle bar pad, to the top of the dash. i have a 2" riser, and the collar worked perfect. depending on how high your riser is, you could get one off an sks, or an rmk. i know they have a slightly higher riser as well.

attached is the pic of the riser and collar.

here is the riser, collar, and handle bar pad installed

ive seen people use the ribbed gutter drain that you can get at home depot or lowes. imo, hey dont look as good, however get the job done. i wanted a "stock" look. thats why i ordered the collar and put it on.

you sure thats gunna be a strong enoough riser? They take quite a bit of abuse. Id put some more braces in it. Or make it out of thicker metal. or buy one they are cheap.

Looks nice with the collar... but I agree with the construction comments. Most risers are solid aluminum billet. They need to be real strong. The last thing you want is for it to bend or break when you're traveling 60 MPH.

id atleast weld 4 small tubes inside the riser so you can put longer carrage bolts or something to that effect to add stability and strength. instead of having 8 bolts.

the risers are about 4 1/4 inch (that's about the max i could make them without getting longer cables and stuff) They're made out of 3/16 inch steel with good welds on all 4 corners, don't think that's enough? I'll admit it, i'm kind of a cheap a$$, and like to screw around out in the shop with stuff like this, otherwise i would just go buy some.
