Buying a used sled privately in Canada question

Hey everyone, I've never bought a sled USED and privately before. Do you need to get these things safetied like you do when buying a used car? I don't see why you would have to since it's not being technically used on a roadway or anything, plus finding a sled mechanic to do that would be a pain (for me anyways). Also do you know how the tax works on them? If I buy it do I goto the motor vehicle bureau and pay sales tax like I would on anything I buy? Thanks for any insights

Hi there. No, you don't have to get it inspected unless you import it from the US.

You have to pay PST, and you are required to buy a license plate and your sticker for that year. Other than that it's really no big deal. Just remember to buy your trail permit and support your local club!

You pay tax on what the bill of sale says you bought it for. (hint hint)

But remember, you can also get a refund from the buyer if the sled is a dud, I'd want ALL my money back, not what a fake receipt said...
