Post 2 or 4 strokes

im a 2 stroke guy all the way!
they smell good
they rap up good
the power to wieght is good.
and with my 121" track it takes two or three people to pull it out. but witha 4 stroke it has a 162 and it takes four or five
what do you guys think about 2 and 4 strokes

to each his own. Depends on your style of riding. The only sector that 4 stroke is gonna have a hard time catching up is the deep snow/mountain riding. For the simple reason that weight is key. Other than that, they are doing better and better in the performance and touring market especially. Why do you think ski-doo (a long time defender of 2-stroke being the best) is now making a 4 stroke. They are selling. And they are selling consistently which means they are only gonna get better.

The Ski Doo SDI E-tek is the closest thing to a 4 stroke I think you'll ever see.

I love the two stroke although I think one day it will be replaced by a 4 stroke and gone from our sport
basically cuz of all the emisions standards now adays although the skidoo efi's are great in that erea which gives me hope
but I think when they lighten them up and give them the torque and response of the 2 stroker now the 2 stroke will be gone

OK, how about this question? The military is transitioning to diesel powered bikes because almost everything they run is powered by diesel fuel.

How about a diesel snowmobile? Maybe 60+ mpg?

yeah if my dad doesnt buy the right diesel for his pick up and semi it jells up at 30 degrees
and it sucks on the truck cuz you basically waste 300 gallons of fuel right there

i'm a 2 stroke guy too, but like BskidooC said, 4 strokes will replace 2 stroke eventually. But give it a few years and the 4 stroke will be killer. Just look at the crazy power and speed you see out of sport bikes. Yamaha has already proven that 4 stokes can get the job done, almost.

aside from the cold weather aspect of the diesel...you have to admit, having a diesel powered snowmobile would be bad a$$. that thing would sound so awesome

getting back to the 4/2 strokes, i think that 4's are going to be the sled of the future, however, it might take a while. with yammi making their sleds the way they do, and when sales will go up, everyone will follow sute. i know polaris makes their FST for 2007, and that is one sled id love to get on and test drive.

well, once honda comes out with a sled, i will buy that. and hopefully i will be able to afford it. its suppose to be the 1235cc turbo. it comes with 8.5:1 compression heads, bump that up to 11:1 and expect 200+ horsepower. it should weigh around 650-680 for the first generation models. but expect that to drop a lot after the first year. but there is no word from honda motor company themselves, saying they are gunna make a sled, only rumors. they might not make one cuz the market is reletively small. but they do have patents for a snowmobile drive system....

but i will always have a 2 stroke. they are light, and yea, only light. i will run 2 strokes until honda comes out with a 4 stroker. cant wait for the future

2-stroke all the way!!! Love the smell, weight, and power. Easy to work on too.

I look at the subject like I look at front wheel drive. I absolutely hate everything about FWD. However, when your only choice is FWD, that's what I have to buy.

So; I'll ride a 4-stroke when all other options are gone.

i ride and love 2-strokes, i like the smell the most.
i got nothing against 4-strokes and if i was gunna buy a brand new sled it would be an apex, i dont like rider forward and all the new sleds are rider forward, but yami has the closest to what i like, but im 15 and dont have 15grand laying around and will need a truck soon, by the time i can afford a new sled they will be so different that my opinion now is usless.

as for the diesel sled idea, if thought of it befor but ive never seen small diesels exept tractors and jettas, i dont think it would be a bad thing, and if they can get a good bike on diesel then i think they could build a sled, or at least a touring modle to start like the first 4-strokers. and for the gelling up, ive only ever heard of it happening, weve never had a problem in the truck before, or at least that i know of.
