MXZ or RX1?

I came across this Yamaha 4 stroke RX 1, or should I stay with getting the MXZ I was thinking about for my next sled? Keep in mind that I need a good suspension for my back.(C'mon no jokes.) I hear the 4 stroke's are are bear to change the oil. Let me know your thought's.

What year MXZ? The RX-1 is a fairly new sled and has alot of plastic and shrouds under the hood. Like new cars these days its about impossible to work on them, everything is hidden by something. These are my thoughts i dont have much experience around the RX-1.

If the RX1 is a 2003 or older the suspensions are terrible. 2004 brought an upgrade. Plus they are HEAVY!!!!

Maybe I should stick with that. (MXZ). I only trail ride and don't go that crazy, but I do take care of maintanance. The 02 MXZ my son has now is a world of differance than my V Max. I just want a enjoyable RIDE. Something good on my back. (Suspension). We've worked enough on 2 stroke's in the motocross area of it, can't be much different in the sled 2 stroke's.

No different at all. Plus, the newer MXZ's have the SC-10 3 or 4 suspension in it.

Sc-10 3 is a great setup. The newer rev's and rt's are a little harder to work on just because of the tighter engine compartment, but all the things that require regular maintenance are out in the open. If you can get an SDI than GET IT. You'll thank me later. The fuel savings alone justify the purchase. It may take you a few rides to get used to the different riding style but you'll find your groove.

if you have a bad back, the rev is the way to go. i jumped on my buddies 05 and couldnt beleive how smooth it made the trails feel. I'm just not too fussy on the riding possition, but apparently you can realy get used to it

Stick with the MXZ there easy to work on light and can take a serious beating, every yamaha I have ever worked on is a pain in the a$$ and the only reason I was working on it is because it broke when I was riding it.

The RX-1 is sold. It was a divorce sale, and the gal offed it for $2800. It had only 936 miles on it. Guess she screwed the ex good this time.

I don't know much abou the new yamis, but I've ridden an MXZ 500 the same year as your sons, and it rode very nice. It was different from my Polaris because the ride position was slightly different, but still all in all it was a nice smooth ride even after I wiped out on a sink hole...lol. Skidogs would be my second choice for a sled.

The yamis are just too heavy to play around on all day, they would be the cats azz for someone that just putted around on trails all day though!
