Can you wear goggles with a full face helmet?

Yesterday was out for first ride of the season and my full face visor was fogging and condensating pretty bad. Wondering if I remove the face shield, can I wear goggles. Just not sure if goggles will fit inside the opening of a full face helmet.

They may, but most won't seal and will allow a lot of air in.

Is your shield a single pane? Snowmobile shields are dual pane, specifically not to fog in cold weather. Many helmets come with both, or can have either equipped.

All snowmobile helmets have double panes, otherwise, as you found out, they fog up almost immediately.

Your best bet is to see if there are any double pane shields available for your helmet, that would be a better solution than removing the shield entirely to wear googles.

For the most part there are two issues when trying to wear goggles with a helmet meant to have a shield.

1. The size of the goggles are often wider than the opening (top to bottom)

2. The sides of the opening are to far forward to effectively pull the goggles against your face. Allowing air gaps.

Options for eliminating or reducing the amount of fogging in a full face.

- Make sure it is double-pane and has adequate airflow around it
- Get a snorkel of sorts to direct your breath away (this is the concept behind Skidoo's BVS2 helmets).
- Get a heated shield. Requires a wire from you to the snowmobile to power it.
- Any combination of the above.

And Goggles fog up too. My son usually carries 3-4 pair. He was getting pretty frustrated with it and went out and bought a really expensive pair and at -10F they still fogged up just like all the others. He's been looking at some battery powered goggles to use just on the cold trips.

I went out and bought the HJC full face module helmet and heated shield. I've been out at -20F and never had a bit of icing.

If you can find a heated shield for your helmet it will come with the wire!
But I would go so far as to say, throw your helmet on a shelf and go get a new helmet with the electric shield!
The new helmets are sooo much better at not only keeping you warm but able to breath with no fog!
I got my last 3 helmets from Babitt's and with the electric shield it was $120!
Check around there are deals out there!
I got those at the MSA Swap that had been held at Hastings to Martin , Mi swaps!

Can't imagine the first time I pull over to talk with some friends or neighbors and as I pull my helmet off a panty liner falls out... that'll be sure to keep everyone talking! LOL

Some breath deflectors you can buy cover the nose completely so any air you breathe out is exhausted outside the helmet. My Polaris helmet has that kind of system, and it is much better at not fogging than previous helmets I have used. But if you get sweaty from a hard ride, it's pretty much impossible to keep all the moisture out of the helmet, and a heated shield could really help.

I've never had a dual pane shield that worked in all conditions, most ended up fogging up and eventually freezing. Ended up with a HJC electric visor and love it! I don't always have to plug it in, but at least when I do, I am absolutely certain it will not fog.

I ordered a No Fog breath deflector about a year and a half ago and I have been running it ever since. It works excellent and it also acts as a very warm scarf that goes down to just below my collar bone and around the back of my neck. I always had a ton of fogging problems with my cheapo fleet farm helmet but this solved it completely. It is made out of a moisture wicking material and it doesn't stink from your breath after it dries out.
