Got a new sled, wanted something a little more my size and something a bit newer. Found this Summit 1000 Highmark X 162" on Craigslist for $2000. Planning on going to northern Iowa next year to find some real snow, I don't think we've had more than 6" at any point in the last 4 years here in the Omaha area. I'm happy with it, its a huge change coming from a '98 MXZ 670 to this thing.
Yeah, I know. My family doesn't go riding around here more than a couple times in a winter so I figure riding around here with them for a few hours shouldn't be that bad.
I plan on taking a snowmobiling trip next year to somewhere it's a little more suited. Any suggestions of first places to go?
Any recommendations on where to go for a first trip to the mountains? I have no experience in riding in this conditions, is there a good place to start?
I've never been but would love to go and I will someday. I would suggest going with someone who is experienced or perhaps hiring a guide. Experience will help you keep out of a jam. Ie staying out of avalanche prone areas and what to do when stuck plus things I would never know to ask. Look for how far you want to travel and find a dealer near by and ask them for clubs or guides in that area. That's what I'll do when I get the chance to go.
