Hey everybody,

I am a representative of a Clean Snowmobile Challenge team at Iowa State University. We were hoping to get some market information from snowmobile enthusiasts like yourselves. If you have a minute to fill in any or all of the questions we would really appreciate it! You can follow the links below to learn more about the competition!

Thanks everybody for your help so far!

Here is a little more info about our team and our sled. We are a second year team from Iowa State University and are fairly new to the Challenge. The idea behind Clean Snowmobile Challenge is to drive the industry to produce more fuel efficient, lower emitting, and still fun to ride snowmobiles.

Our team runs a 2014 Polaris Indy 800SP with the stock 2-stroke Liberty 795cc. The main changes we have made is exhaust after treatment including a catalytic converter and custom muffler. We also run a Power Commander V with fuel and ignition capabilities to allow our tuning. Competition is the second week of March so stay tuned for more updates.

Feel free to ask any questions if you have them!

I'm curious of the results when compared to other motors that are inherently cleaner from the factory. (etec)

Those are all real good questions. Currently there are only a few teams still running 2-strokes at all. Most of the teams that do are running Polaris Pro-R's with our sled being the only Polaris with an 800cc motor. The other sleds have historically been 600's. The team from Idaho runs an Etec 800 and has accomplished a lot of really cool technologies in the past (direct injection, dynamic noise cancelling).

The majority of winners from the past have run Skidoo ACE 600's and have had loads of success making these sleds extraordinarily clean and quiet.

If you are more interested in the specifics, Michigan Tech runs a website where design papers, presentations, and results from past years are kept. I'll link it here if anybody wants to poke around and have a better look at what teams have done in the past.

For those of you who have any interest, the competition is the week of March 7th-12th. Saturday the 12th is one of the few open to public days. If you are in the Houghton, Michigan area during the week come by and check it out!

Wonder also, how much of this technology through the years have been bought by companies.

ps. Don't know who does the website, but mis-spelling a sponsors name is not going to win brownie points with them. :p

Artic should be Arctic.

Tried to email the link to the "Interested Sponsors" contact address and it bounced. Not a good sign.
