No replacement for Displacement

What is a general rule of thumb for displacement and spped?
I was told this by a mechanic at a shop.
fOR AIR COOLED 400 cc is 60 MPH, 600 700 cc is 90 mph 800 and 800 to 1000 cc will go 100-120 mph.

Then he said water cooled makes it run more consistant and adds 20% more to the top end speed.

Is this correct? Given each sled has the same chasis , aero dynamics, track. Just engine displacement,.

Pretty general rule. Although gearing, clutching, etc makes all the difference.

i guess that sounds pretty close. i have a 1996 zrt600 so 20% more speed would put it around 108 if i did my math right. and ive had my sled up to 115 (thats where i decided to back off) also the guy i bought it from hit 115 on it to. and as far as i know it isnt clutched of geared or anything. i dont know that much about sleds so i could be wrong
