man, did we ever get pounded.
well this was the big one of the year.
55 MPH winds, 8-12 inches , drifting snow everywere.. ALOT of accidents and a few dead in montreal... 60 car pile up on the 117.
this was a ******* zoo!!
here we were kinda alright sdont have any lugs on their tires, they dont seem to need some..exept for yesterday that is.. and i know ther illegal in ontario..
but up here, you GOTTA love em' mine are brand new and i must say the corolla ride like a tractor with those in any temperature.. which wqas very useful on the roads yesterday and last night.
a 2 PM yesterday right in the middle of the storm i decided to get the old cat out and go riding. i retreated back 5 minutes after..
i couldn't see anything exept white.. even with my eyes closed. there so much so that the track was always spining and the sleds back was diging it's way to hell.. so i was in the field with no traction at WOT not going 40 MPH... and there was that very powerful wind and blowing snow and i was affraid to see something since i couldnt see much. and to top it off, snow was snow getting in my hood and freezing up the carbs opened !
so i turned back.. .. got the sled in the garage with chernobyle running and let the defreezing process take place... while i got in the house, and made myself a jack daniel coffee and cursed ever so this storm that should not have come here... too much is like never enough.
right now at 7 AM on saturday the 18th, it's -9 F and - 34 F with windchill
oh and,
a friend of mine called me to tell me his car would start. he took a pic of the engine when he opened the hood of his celica.
remeber, his hood was CLOSED all night and it still looked like this.

Wow, we got that storm too but it was mostly rain and freezing rain but still dropped about 6 inches. I think that lugs are legal during winter in some northern towns such as north bay or timmins. Don't quote me on that though. Looks like you guys got it bad! North bay got another 30cm. That's like the second or third storm for them where they've gotten hammered! The trails must be great up north and where you are!

Man, we had the brutal winds, and now the near-zero cold, and subzero windchills. But no snow to speak of - the ground is white, but only a fraction of an inch to an inch, depending on where you stick the ruler. We had lost all our snowbase in the 60 degree rain that lead up to this cold front.
So another winter weekend here in WNY where riding is impossible. We're running out of winter weekends, too.

Sledding weather sucks here you can't pass 35 mph because of the snowdrifts everywhere. And they aren't smooth soft snow ones. They're hard packed ice covered jagety ones.
At least you guys got some good soft snow.

Thanks BRPforlife, I found Fr0st's Teflon tape thread. What a story. Truth is stranger than fiction. Once I had a little washer that was between the air cleaner and the carb on my '71 Maverick get sucked into the carb. It ended up hammered into the top of one of the pistons. Sorry, off topic.

hmmm no i won't tell it again... im actually trying to get over it.. firends still alugh everytime i get my sled out.... and im going " aaah shut up! it's still goes 75-80 MPH and has a cleart title! :P "
heres the link to the story. it's those kinda of things that shouldn't happen.. but do.... i had a few of those.. some about repairing teflon tape busted sleds and others about kicking punk ass who blinded me with a flood light and sprayed me with supersoakers....im a magnet for those situations.... just like LOCKY, he has one too. ..

Pretty much all of northern Ontario had a winter storm warning. Except my town. Damn. Of course we are now scheduled for something like 20cm over the next two days or so, and I seriously hope we get more. Too much snow is never enough
And in northern Ontario you're allowed studs on your tires now. You can even keep them on if you go to southern Ontario. Yay for us. Haven't actually bothered getting any yet, but I'm going to maybe get some next winter.

That damn storm hit us as rain, and froze the next morning, and it's been -10 and under degrees celcius since about Friday morning.
