Some use them some not, I find that those who do not, the springs tend to get rust spots on them, have to do some touch ups, not good on white springs on the skis, thoughts, as lots of custom styles out there, I like them, keeps the brush and twigs/slush out.

They're great to use if you're transporting on an open trailer, but leaving them on during riding or storage can lead to issues by trapping snow, ice, and water inside them. There's an up and a down side to their use.

I Touring and my brothers Summit both had PVC cover over the center shock. Both broke their shocks in the first few years. The Touring's shock was replaced again shortly after that. I removed the cover after figuring out that it was trapping snow inside it and the warm shock would melt it and turn it to ice. Break the end off the shock due to lack of movement. Put 8000 miles on the Touring and about 5000 miles on the Summit and no broken shocks after the removal.

Wasn't even thinking about the front track shock, but I've heard that sort of story before... Been fortunate not have had that issue on my sleds.
