On snowmobiles, I let off at 90. My 600 XLT would easily pass this speed... not sure about my 500 XCSP. Probly 90-100, I dunno.

Hey, I value my life and the others around me....

I know once my friend had an XC 600 and I got it to do about 105-106. Unless he geared it, there is no way the sled would go that fast.

Speedos are always 5 to 10 mph faster when you're going that fast, due to track spin. Use a GPS to do it.

don,t know how much the track spin really is as according to the speedo. but i,ve been around speedruns for a quite a few years. usually at the end of the your run, you should,nt be slipping the track anymore. i,ve seen guys report there speedo,s as much as 20+mph off of what there were really running. on another subject, i just seen a snoweek magazine that had shootout result from different sleds and manufactures,s. this was on a 1/4 mile snow track. the mach z 1000 was the fastest stock sled there with a speed of 100 mph and change.

My dads 2002 800 xcsp edge has only gone 115mph, in near perfect conditions and it has been geared. My dads also a light rider. I say your buddy is totally full of bs, or the speedo is way off. Either way who really cares

I've gotten my 600 mxz HO to 113 on the speedo, probably about 100-105 in reality. I'd say your friends speedo is way off or he's lying. Especially with a 500.

my 500 saw about 95 in its day. had the 600HO up to 105...

yeah, 120 is too much unless he put some hopes and dreams in the tank or has worked on it. the speedo is off, or maybe he glanced down really quick (which you should do as quick as possible that fast) and read it wrong.

the mach hit 124 in one article last year, depends on the length i guess.

I had my 98 rmk600 twin hit 100 on the speedo which works out to about 80 when you do the math with the gear ratios and the drivers times the rpm. On my 01 xc600sp I hit 98 twice on an ice road with a gps.

On a flat open lentil stubble field I got my V-max up to 150 km/h, it probably had more in it still. That was on 3 to 4 inches of snow with little track spin. Top speed in heavy snow is usually 100 km/h. And thats fast enough for me!
