Vibrating Track

Hey well my bros and I got out there again tonight, and it was a blast. But I notice when I waiting in the field, and my bro takes off with the sled, it sounds from afar like loose wrenches in the track. And when your riding it, the sled intermittly vibrates all the way through the seat, kind of like the sound when you go over hard ice, but really when the snow if as soft as a babies bottom. The sled is running mint, and turns and rides mint. Just those sounds have been occurring for atleast 2 straight seasons, just curious to what that might be. Sometimes it makes a dinging sound like a bell too from the engine area.

Make sure track is tight, also the chaincase is adjusted correctly.

How do you adjust a chaincase?

Is there some type of tensioner like on a chainsaw to tighten the chain on the saw?

There should be a bolt somewhere on the case to tighten the chain. Tighten it finger tight, then back it off a little.

The track may also be loose and jumping the sprockets of the drive shaft.

Well I did some different test today to see maybe what was up with the sounds the track is making. I took it for a ride, and did some stop and go movements, and thats when the dinging would come from. And on the way home the track was vibrating prety bad, and i know it aint the trail cuz the other doesnt make a noise. So I brought it in the back yard and go the track up off the ground. And one of you said maybe the track aint tight enough and I think thats it, because when the track is off the ground, and still spins at a descent clip, and the tension is more than two fingers, which baffles me because the guys down at Reynolds, said the tension was fine. But still confused about the vibrating noise that shakes the machine a little bit, and the dinging, track tension might just be a whole other different problem.

Well looking when i opened the hood, the noise, the bell sound was coming from the chaincase. Coming out of the chain case from the top and bottom are to gold spinning dowel bars that go accross to the belt. In that sequence everyonce and a while thats where the bell dinging would come from.
