Angry P.O.S. Yamaha!!!!

I had a Yamaha V-Max that I sold last year. I know the guy pretty well. He brought it back after his first ride on it and it cooked the right piston. OILER quit on it! Thanks! I KNEW I should have junked the thing instaed of fixing it up and selling it.....So I have to replace the piston on it and disable the oiler permanently. Between fixing it up and now this repair I have around 30 hrs into a $400 sled.......

This is why you never sell your snowmobile, ATV, Car or anything else to someone that you know. Always sell stuff to strangers that you will never see again.

$37 for a piston kit, $4 for a base gasket. Not too bad, but a PIA nonetheless.

We sold our V-Max 2 years ago. First ride on it from the other guy = blown motor. I only know this because my neighbor was doing work for the guy, we never heard a peep from the guy.

Funny thing was that the sled NEVER acted up on us and was taken care of well (so we thought)

Different people maintain and ride a sled differently. I have fun on my stuff, but I don't beat it. Other riders I have seen beat the heck out of their sleds. I'd be sure that one of those type riders could break my sled within a few miles...

I agree with SEG (don't sell to friends).

Nice of you to stand behind your reputation SEG. I'd buy a sled from you!

That's a really good way to do business. It might be a pain now, but people talk and that can only help your business in the long run.

SEG didn't say it, I did. I agree with you that different riding styles can make a sled break. I don't think it even takes an abusive rider to break it either. Just a different riding style.

Sorry YamV, didn't mean to give SEG credit for your brilliant statement!

I just sold my '93 Villager. It had 243,000+ miles on it!!! I did NOT want to sell to a friend, even though it just passed inspection, and was still running fine. I babied it, since it had so many miles on it. When the guy test drove it, he punched it to the floor! I was hoping the engine didn't blow right then and there.

A Villager isn't a sled, it's a van.
