Memorable Experiences

Since there's no snow to actually go out on I though we could share an experience or two from past rides to get us by. Something funny, weird, pleasant etc.
I have a place about 120 miles northeast of Toronto (Haliburton).
Each year we get a group of 4 families, pack sleds with stoves, food, fishing gear, auger, tobaggins etc.
We trail up to a lake that has a lot of shear rock faces, set up a mini camp at the base of one for the day. We set up the stoves for cooking, drill holes for ice fishing and the kids can tobaggin because there are some hills that come right onto the lake.
Well the kids love it when Dad gets up there to slide with them.
Well I just couldn't go down the kids hill, I had to go down the hill right next to the 5' drop. I went down, slid to the right and right over the drop. At the bottom the snow was about 2" deep and I landed ass first on a rock. It was one of those bone jarring teeth rattlin landings. I thought I was OK, I got up and everyone had a great laugh.
Well in fact I broke my tall bone and by the time I had to ride out, I could not even sit. I had to ride standing all the way back.
We found a kids plastic floating ring at the cottage and I had to sit on that when riding for the rest of the week-end. I'm sure people on the trail thought I was nuts.
I took that kids ring home and had to use it for another two weeks whenever I sat down.

Last winter 4 of my friends and I went up to parry sound for a weekend of snowmobiling. There were 3 sleds and the only girl who was driving was a rookie so she went really slow. So we decided to do a 7 or 8 hour loop and come back through bracebridge and go to a restaurant called the purple pig for lunch. So we were off. We left at around 9 o'clock that morning and hit the trails. We ventured on very slowly ,so we didn't leave the amateur behind. So we finally get to the intersection to cut down towards bracebridge for our lunch at the purple pig. Wait a minute this is the wrong intersection. Holy crap we missed the trail!@!@!@! So we circle back and can't find the trail anywhere (turned out it was closed and snowed over). We're about 5 hours into our journey and very hungry. So we press on and decide to make the loop a little bigger and circle back down another way. Well by the time we get to the purple pig it's 10:30 at night, and we get back to the hotel at about 1 in the morning. This was riding my rev with a person on the back, crawling through the trails at 50 kph. Needless to say we were all very tired!
