This may be a stupid question but why don't new sleds have trailing arms? And what purpose did they serve on 80's and 90's models? The Independent front suspensions haven't changed much but nobody uses them..sorry if that sounds naive.
trailing arms (actually leading arms, trailing arms are in FRONT of the suspension) had numerous flaws. Biggest of which was the lack of articulation. You can't easily get suspension that has a foot of travel with a trailing arm.
They used to share a lot of stuff way back in snowmobiling history!
