Dumb double riding question

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the game, I want to know how my girlfriend can go riding with me. I've ridden the 2-ups which are fine but is there any other sled out there that can somewhat comfortably support double riding? She may also drive it once in awhile, but she's never driven more than a big slow 2 up. We would be mostly on trails, possibility of off-track powder rides every so often. Combined weight would be somewhere around 300 pounds.

I've heard some say you can double ride on most sleds, others say dont do it cause suspension, power, etc. cant handle it.

I know a lot of the forum guys have a ton of experience, any advice here? Thanks everybody

I've ridden as a passenger on a one up sled before. Very uncomfortable, very unsafe. If you absolutely need a ride somewhere by sled and there's only a one up machine available, fine, but if you're planning on riding 2 up, then get a sled that's meant for it. 2 ups are warmer, safer, and more comfortable for the passenger. 2 ups aren't necesarily slow, and they usually have long tracks so going off trail is going to ok. Powder riding with a passenger is never as easy or enjoyable as when you're on your own just because it depends so much on weight distribution.

As far as power, any machine can take two people. As far as suspension, you will want to set it stiffer to compensate for the extra weight.

like^^^^^ said. it can be done but for long trips i think a 2 up seat would be alot better because with a one up seat the driver is like sitting on the fuel tank nearly. so for 2 peeps riding on long trips a 2 up seat prolly be quite abit better.
if it is just gonna be little short trips the you can prolly manage with a one up.

just my .02 . which is not worth much atall since i don`t even have a snomobile at the moment

I don't know what kind of sled your looking at buying and price range and stuff but you could always looks into the 03-06 mxz because you can also buy a seat that attaches on the back or you could get a 04-06gsx that comes with the extra seat you have a couple different engine chocies and colors with both and then when she isn't riding with you you have a one up sled that can both be ridden hard.

I've squeezed on my Mxz with my girlfriend, luckily she's not much more than 100 pounds. But it was still uncomfortable. You can buy a 1+1 seat for many sleds which is basically an add on seat and you can take it off whenever you want to ride by yourself. I think that would be best for you. Just my two cents!

Don't quite know why, since usually the seat is the only difference... but you'll get a ticket in NY for riding 2-up on a 1-up sled.

My Panther (2-up) has helper springs that can easily be clicked into position to handle the extra weight of another rider. It's real nice, since it is so easy to switch in and out. Rides nice with one, and nice with two. Handling ALWAYS suffers when you have 2 riders though. It's more weight, and harder to react quickly. Powder and tight & uneven trails are very difficult on a 2-up. Wide open trails are a breeze though. Gives you and your passenger enough room to move comfortably.

I gave an average sized girl (120lbs or so) a ride once around my friends lake. Let me tell you, I will never take anyone for a ride, unless it's just around the lake a few times. Granted I'm 265lbs, lol. My nuts hurt so bad from the tank it wasnt funny. Couldn't turn worth a crap. There was NO leaning, not to mention I could barely turn the bars cause my legs were there. That was before my riser though. It was worth it though. This girl was mad hot and LOVED the ride, lol. I had to eventually tell her that she was killin my nuts and she had to get off so I could play. Haha, gotta have my priorities, right?

I had a 1997 Polaris XLT600 and it had a huge seat. My wife and I could ride together. I installed an adjustable backrest and that was pretty cool. Gave me some support on long rides, and I could easily slide it rearward for a passenger. A backrest is an absolute must for a passenger because without it, they are constantly holding their stomach and abdomen muscles tight tight tight to stay on !!!

Thanks for the input, I'll have to look into those add-on seats, I didnt know about that. I'll probably go with a true 2up though since she's gonna help buying it.
