I hit a tree!
A big one! I was in the Haliburton forest with about 10 friends. I checked my sled over, and the only thing wrong was the electric visor wasn't working. I thought no biggie. Well after like 3 miles it fogged up on my BAD. I was coming to a crest of a hill and I couldn't see at all. I took my left hand off the bars to flip my visor up. My hand didn't even get to my helmet before I hit the tree. Luckily I was only doing 50 km/h, anything more and I would have gotten hurt. My face hit the bars, shattering my $60 pos non working visor, good thing cause I would have done it myself I dragged her outta the bush, made sure the belt, clutch etc was clear, and gave her. I rode for the rest of the day, about 90 miles. The sled steers fine, and doesn't seem to be damaged other then cosmetics. I took it to 80 mph, then backed off. I couldn't beleive it. Total damage seems to be 1 inner bumper, 1 outer bumper, belly pan, and 1 hood hinge. I'm hoping to find a donor chassis as I need a track too. Anyone know what years and models have my chassis? 1992-1996 formula's, mxz, mach 1's?
Heres under the hood, where you can see it just touched the pipes.

I think I should go out and buy a lottery ticket! People couldn't beleive how I just kept riding her, I wasn't gonna let something like a huge tree ruin my day Someone that was with us took a video of my 80mph hood flapping run, I'll see if I can get it on here when they send it to me.

Man that's brutal. Good idea to stop riding when you can't see though. Hopefully you find the parts you need, but the main thing is you're not hurt.

What trail where you on?
I have a place on Black Lake in the Forest, been there 17 years.
Seems like we lose a rider every few years.
Usually at night they run the lake too fast and the shore comes up too quick to stop.
A few years back a guy going down Black towards Little Black hit the shore at the portage so hard he hit a tree 15 feet above the ground and was killed. You could see the red marks from his sled up above your head.
Believe there's still a reef hanging on that tree.
Take it easy guys, especially at night.

glad you were not hurt. i did the same thing with my FIII, hit in the same spot, it was cool, the bumper folded right around the pipe not damaging it, pushed everything back to the radius rods without hitting them. i was up in big bay at the time, took a hacksaw and sawed off half the bumper and rode it home.

bummer man, good thing your ok!! could have been worse. Good news tho, my friends have a blown 96'F3, they are parting it out locally, was set up for drag racing but the chassis and bumpers, hood (mint) and everything is all there. Let me know if your interested, located near sault ste marie, ontario. they have everything you need and a track with 193 studs. i also have a mint track with 143 studs.

Hey banger I'm interested! I'm looking at a 93' formula right now, but he wants to much $. Its kinda far though. I think it was the wiring to the visor. Either way I'm never using one again. I actually borrowed some ski googles, and put them over my helmet for the rest of the trip. Sounds funny but they never fogged. I might do it all the time. I have removed the both bumpers, and it looks like I may be able to save the belly pan. I'm just glad I was able to snag some garage space to work on it.

After you fix the sled, go out to the tree. Cut that mother down with a chainsaw and drag that horse around behind the sled. Show it who's boss.
