Weather keeps declining
Well I just heard some bad news for New England. There calling for 40's and 50's with rain by the end of the week. Are we suppose to be getting January Thaws? I didnt think so, not usually. So I took today as a day to get the sleds, even the struggling TNT out to the field for their last time before all this little snow we already have, be deleted off the map again. We have about 3-4 inches, so i took it slow up the trails and got onto some grassy surfaces, and got them all warmed up that way with my little bro and got all their parts moving, because who knows the next time we get a blockbuster, which we will need to catch up to all the lack of snow

Yeah, even if it turned around kind of..I still be mad that i havent been riding in early January. Some of the best riding is suppose to come now, when the tempertures are at a cold crispy 20's in the afternoon, and snow is at its best pure form. Its all medioker from here

Hey all, I am a weather forecaster in Upstate NY and the news just gets worse.
You can blame it all on the jet stream. The Polar Front jet to be exact. Usually around this time of year the PFJ is moving in a very steep up and down wave across the US causing cold Arctic air to move down from Canada. Those cold temps cause all of our weather systems riding along the PFJ to drop frozen precipitation. Unfortunatly the PFJs pattern lately is very zonal or flat. This is allowing mild Pacific and Gulf air to keep invading the north and is keeping the temperatures way up. Remember that good dumping of snow we got back in November early December. The jets wave was hangin 10 back then and brought us the super sweet snow. Now we just need to pray for that pattern to return before it is to late! BTW, I am forecasting a high of 46F/8C for my station just east of Lake Ontario Wednesday afternoon. I guess we will just have to start from scratch with the snow now

You wern't one of those bastards that predicated a cold winter and heavy precip. were you?
Anyways is there any way to tell if the jet stream trend will change back? Basically what i'm asking is when are we going to get back to winter?

Haha, sounds like your blaming the weather on the weather guy! Hmmm, my wife is a forecaster as well and she told me that the winter would be like this. I didn't want to believe her but she is rarely wrong so I will have to say I was on her side. Unfortunately, I think this weather pattern will reamain like this. We still will get some shots of snow but just like last year each one will be followed by shots of mild air and rain. So ride right when it snows!
