Snowmobile Friendly Places & People
Sorry if this sounds like an advertisment, but I just have to tell you a short story about Pam, the owner of this B&B, Grace Grange, near Petoskey, MI ( www.gracegrange.com). This place is right on the snowmobile trail for very easy access.
When SnowRida, , Me & both juniors were out a couple of weeks ago, we ended up on some very desolate, (bare) roadside trails. We had stopped to check the map, when Rida, realized he hadn't enough fuel to get back to the trail-head. Pam, came driving along & asked if we were lost (typical fe-male question) & we said we knew exactly where we were (typical male reply). Although that answer wasn't entirely true, one thing that was true was there were zero gas stations in the area. Well, this wonderful woman, Pam, said she had a 5 gallon can of gas in her barn that Rida could have. She sure saved our (Rida's) butt's that day.
Anyway, I think that if there are similar snowmobile friendly people/establishments you've experienced, please share them!! These are the type of establishments we should patronize & let our friends know about.

I have not told this story before and wasnt going to but this thread was a perfect opportunity. I did have a similar experience just last month when I got lost. I was riding along this trail and it ended into the backyard of somebodys house. I shut the snowmobile off just as this lady came out her back door. She asked if I was lost and I had no other choice but to say yes. She told me to come inside to warm up. I told her the whole story of how I tried to take a short cut but ended up way out of my way. She was very understanding. Turns out her husband gets turned around quite often and will not ask for directions. We sat around her kitchen table just making small talk when she said maybe I should take a hot bath to help warm myself. I could not resist. Next thing I knew she lead me into her bathroom. She shut and locked the door behind her. As the tub was filling with water there was a knock at the door. I looked at her with this surprised look on my face (can you imagine what I was thinking). All of a sudden I hear this tiny voice saying Dad how long were you lost for? I said only a couple hours hun now get back to bed. Then my wife went and tucked my daughter back in bed. Boy was I glad to be home.

Had an old Moto Ski that I blew the chaincase out of one day when I was 17 or so. It was near a road. I was just sitting on it wondering how I was going to get home, when a guy in a pickup truck stopped to see if I was OK. I said it was broke. He helped me lift it into his truck and brought me home. Nice guy!

i once turned the wrong way on the railroad tracks that goes from the trail head to my road ( thats how i get to the trail) i use the tracks every day and still got going the wrong way. any ways, i knew it would be alot easier to just go to the next road that was maybe 1/2 mile up and turn around rather than tryin to do it on the tracks. so i get to the road, decide not to turn around in the field and instead in the road ( the snow was about 4 ft deep and didnt wanna get stuck) so i go into the road and start to turn. i only managed to cross the road, not turn around, so i just decided to turn around on the other side of the road. next to the tracks on the other side of the road, i start to turn around. then i realize im on ice with very little snow on it. i broke throught the ice and the tail of the sled was in 3 ft of water. i try for alittle while to lift it out, after callin my dad to tell him id be late since i was on his sled ! then some old guy in chest high waiters stops, gets out, lifts the sled out with one hand then drives away.. i dont think he said two words. its a good thing he showed up

She didn't want any money. I tried to pay her for it, but she refused.

Last year I was headed to my Polaris dealer to get some work done on the sled. They are right next to an old ski hill that's good for snowmobiling now, and my brother happened to be there so I decided to take a ride up the ski hill before I went to the shop. I had been travelling up from the Toronto area, so was up at 2 am, and it was more like 4 pm. I didn't realize how weak I was in those conditions until I got my sled stuck in a foot or two of snow that resembled sugar or salt. I lifted the back end once and I was finished. So I walked to the shop and told them what happened. One of the owners and his friend got on an RMK and like a 700 Touring and they took me to where my sled was, turned it around so it was facing down the hill. These guys have treated my great ever since I started snowmobiling, they're Jones Powersports up here in Wawa.

When I blew up my XLT last winter, I was between my house and Pellston. These kids came by. They let me use there cell phone, and gave me a tow to the trail crossing. My ride showed up. We went and got my trailer. The groomer operator was there when we got back, and he helped load the sled on to the trailer. Morel of the story. Not all kids are spoiled, and irrespondsible(SP)
