This ones not mine and it happened about a month ago. We were up at mount champion CO riding some pretty sick pow and doing some sweet hill climbs. Anyhow we were climbing this hill but none of us could make it to the top because of the 4 feet of pow on it...We have some big mtn sleds and none of them could make it. Well it was my turn and I made it about 3/4 of the way up before the snow broke and caused a little slide. It wasn't real big or nothing but all the pow was gone now. Ok so if any of you guys have ever ridden a avalanche hill you will know that you get amazing traction. Well Paul which is Andrews(a good riding buddy) little brother was riding with us. Hes 13 years old and riding a 06 summit 550f 136" and this hill was still steep enough that he couldnt make it to the top. He took 4 or 5 runs out of it at full bore but just couldnt quite make it over. So were all chillin at the bottom of the hill after a bunch of good runs up it, when Andrew finally tells Paul to go ahead and take his sled and see if he could make it. Well Andrews sled is a 0(something) Yamaha(something) 700 with a 144" track. This thing is pretty wild for a 700. Anyways Paul has ridden this sled a number of times and never had problems. He had also taken it for a run up that same hill before the slide. Well he jumps on her and just points it straight up hill. Well between the amount of power that hes not used to and the great track hook up the thing stands up about 1/4 of the way up. And Paul just holds her to the bar lol. Needless to say the sled flips backwards and a little to the side(thank god or else Paul would have got pounded). Paul's laying face up and downhill on the hill while the sled rolls back over on skis and idles down the hill and stops about 25 yards from us with no damage but a broken windshield and the bars were a little tweaked. It was about the funniest thing any of us had ever seen and no one could go up the hill to see if Paul was ok because we were laughing so damn hard. Paul walks down and doesn't even have a scratch and then Andrew goes and jumps on his sled that is still just idling sitting there. Paul didn't even really ride the rest of the day and was so freaking embarrassed that he wouldn't even talk to us lol. Hes gotten past it now but we still give him crap about it. Paul's and Andrews mom ended up getting them both new low cut windshields for Christmas so that saved Paul from having to shell out 100 bucks for a new one.

He should have gotton plenty of warnings from the oil and check engine light.

Here is one that happened to me but not really my fault. I bought my sled last January, rode it a couple of times with no problems, than one ride we were going into a field and the farmer had laid down his barb wire gate to let snowmobilers in and every time we crossed it my carbide would get caught. No big deal, right, just step on it and keep going. A couple of weeks later, I am out for a long ride with some friends and we ere alost home when we had to cross some railway tracks. So out of the ditch and on to the road, i'm doing maybe 30MPH, and BANG!!!. I stop dead, my hand shears the brake lever off. my right upper and lower a-arms are bent and the rod in my front shock looks like a hockey stick. Luckily no other damage to the sled. Turns out, the guy I bought it from "spaced" the carbide down from the ski with 1/2" plastic. Cost me $400 in used parts and labour. So, moral of the story, check every inch of the sled you buy. You never know what kind of s#@%t you might find.

Resurrect.

So I had my sled loaded in the bed of my short bed chevy. I loaded it with the skis on the tailgate so it would be easy to unload where I was going to take it. But with the rear bumper overhang I opened the rear sliding window so that when I tightened the straps, the rear poked inside the cab a few inches instead of breaking my window. Thus the rear window couldn't be closed.

This morning I decided to unload the sled before I went to work because my plans changed AND it snowed last night and with my rear window open all that snow would've blown inside the cab while trying to drive to work.

First thing, I opened my driver door and nearly soiled my pants when a stray cat (trying to feast on the taco bell bag I had left in the truck) bolted from the passenger seat out the rear window. Stupid cats.

Then I go to unload the sled and figure I'll drive off quickly so that the noise doesn't wake up too many people. Starts beautifully on the 3rd pull. I give 'er some throttle, she moves forward a few inches and then stops. I'm all....WTF? So I hit the reverse and go backwards a few inches, then forward again. Nothin. OMG WTF I HAVE TO GO TO WORK AND THIS IS NOISY!!! I pull the front bumper but can only get the skis out onto the embankment and it feels like the track is stuck on the tailgate or something. I try lifting the rear and pushing. No go...

By this time I see the wife pulling the curtains aside from our bedroom window, in all her frizzy-haired squinty-eyed glory I see her yell something, which I later found out was "Oh my god what the CRAP are you DOING!?>!?!?".

So now I'm really feeling the pressure. I'm gonna be late for work. I just woke up the entire family. I'm cold, wet, and sweaty.
I jumped in the truck and just drove out from underneath it, and as I watch it fall out of the back of my truck I see the extra strap I had laying in the bed of the truck, partially sticking out from the topside of the track. It had gotten all wrapped up and bound up the track. I'm like OMG a $5 strap just cost me a $60 belt. Stupid strap.

That happens to you too?!

Well last winter I was riding a trail and was going threw some powder on my uncles 99' ski doo touring 500, or something like that, but was going along bouncing. Was a bit off trail, was are own land an all. Well, we got to the end of the trail and by the woods, I get to thinking "Oh crap, we split wood last year around here..." Had no idea where the pile was, had so much snow, next thing I know im launghed off the machine into the air. Get up and see that the snowmobile's skis are oppostite directions, skids a bit cracked and was on its side. Not too much damage but did cost a bit.

First time I hit something under snow.
