OK Guys, I need some opinions and possibly some info. I live in Southern Ontario, home of the 3 week snowmobile season (sometimes even that is a stretch!) Well I have been pondering a trip out west in BC during my christmas break from school. I have always wanted to try riding in the mountains, and I figure this is a good chance!

I want to know, what places are good to go in BC? Also, what sort of prices should I expect to pay for machine rentals? Anybody from out that way have any ideas? I dont know if this trip will happen since I cannot find anyone to go with me, but I want to try and make it happen. It would be fairly boring if I went by myself, as I am young (21)....

Let me know what you guys think!

Sometime around Christmas I plan on going to Revelstoke, BC to go sledding in the mountains. I was wondering if many people have been there and if my sled will be able to play around up there. I live in Saskatchewan so we dont see very much snow, still none predicted for like 2 weeks:mad::mad:

I have an 06 crossfire 700 with the stock 136x1.25 track, I was planning on buying a 2" track for when I do go. Would 2" be good? I dont want smaller obviously but if I go bigger is it just going to be too big for clearance or power wise?

I'd like to do some deep powder riding, Big jumps and everything else thats fun:cool:

Hi there,

I am in the process of researching sleds. I have been tasked with buying one for the company I work for. I work for a hydro company which has an intake at a high elevation (1500m), accessible by logging roads at a max of 35% grade. During the winter months we may need to go up to the intake from time to time. During a heavy snow season we may have up to 4 meters of snow. No one here has any experience riding snowmobiles, but we are familiar with ATVs.

I am wondering if I could get some suggestions on what sled I should get. Are there certain brands which are better for mountain applications? I hear that longer tracks are better for powder, but also harder to control. We may need to use one snowmobile for two people too. So, I guess we should get one with adequate power for that too.

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Micah

I just got into riding snowmobiles here in Wyoming and absolutely love it, am hooked definitely. Bought a 2001 Ski Doo Summit 800 151", with 3500 miles on it. Only rode it twice, once in the grass :D and once on hardpack early in the season on the mountain (Snowy Range near Laramie).
Just would like any tips on my sled from members here. I was talking to a guy @ an expo that said the bombardier engine in my sled is famous for breaking pistons and grenading engine, any validity here? This guy recommended throwing in a set of pistons. I am a mechanic as a profession so this wouldn't phase me much as far as the execution if it was worth it.

Any tips on this machine would be awesome!! Thanks!!
