Talking New guy please help me out!

I am new here and here's the deal. I ride a 2000 Artic cat 600 efi powder special and I do not have as much power I the bottm as I would like so I am thinking about gearing it down now from what I understand stock gears I. This sled are 19/40 and I am wondering how many teeth I should drop. I want to be able to ride about 60 mph with out rev ing out. Also wondering if gearing it down is worth it? Will I notice it and if I do gear down do I have to change anything else. I am running a aftermarket power block clutch on this sled any one know anything about them? Thanks guys !

Depending on your elevation, you might want to go to 23/39 which will give you a lot more bottom end.

As far as clutching goes, engagement rpm and peak rpm numbers are needed to help with any changes there.

What?

Welcome to the Snow Show!

You are correct the stock is 19/40. Which is really about the lowest out there! Aftermarket does go with 41 and 42 lowers. A 42 and a 72 pitch chain would be Very noticable!
What is your engagement? You should be at 4500 atleast! And it should rev out to 8500-8700! What is your fuel presure?
Also check your center to centers on the clutches (12.2 12 1/4" works) Also get your belt as tight as possible!

I know my engagement is to low it is about 3000 I am going to get it up to about 4500 - 5000 not to sure witch yet! I think it revs out at about 8000 I am not to sure what my fuel pressure is being I don't have a gauge. The guy I have been phoning about gears for it says if I drop about two teeth on the top gear and make it 17/40 and get my engagement to say 5000 it would have all kinds of power he never said anything about the bottom gear or the pitch of the chain tho? Thanks man!!

With your engagement That Low, replace the spring, check the arms and bushing! Do that first before you gear down! And clean them both with a scotch bright or sand paper and blow them out real good! Check the center to centers, and double check that the belt is good and is rideing out of the secondary atleast an 1/8"-3/16"!
