so have a cust wanting a 583 built to go into an ultra light. Must be dependable right!! any way i need the torque specs for the 90 583. have the motor down to the cases jugs are perfect and the old piston are perfect as well. so thinking just re ring? can i get away with not honing the jugs? I'll be posting pics of the job once i get the parts and start putting it back together and again after intalled in the ultra light should be pretty cool. I also have to delete the oil injection. figure i can just plug it all up? any and all help is appreciated i have to kill this job. The cust is already lining more motors up for other projects!!!!!

No Ball hone, use a std stone hone and lotsa oil! Then sand paper the port edges! I can hook you up with parts if you like?

Pistons with coated skirts, $55 ea and $35 for complete gasket set! Plus tax and shipping!

i found pistons for 43 bucks and gaskets for 31. going to have to go get a stone hone tomorrow and then order pistons unless still in spec for existing the stock pistons still look brand new. not a single mark in the jugs either.

Not sure I'd be putting $43 pistons in an ultralight..Just sayin'.

There is a lot of responsibility and liability associated with building ultra light engines. No offense intended, but judging by the questions you're asking you aren't qualified. You could easily end up being sued if something goes wrong. Steer away from the ultra light business.

the main issue right now is the budget on the build. ive talked to him and got him to come up with it but still tight. jugs are being honed as we speak after words ill get the pistons ordered. going with an oem style piston. going to go ahead and tear it the rest the way down and do the crank seal.

Go with actual OEM pistons. If this engine pooches in the air, you could lose everything....

X100. Ultra light motors are one of the motors you do not skimp on cost. Tell the guy if he can't afford to put good parts in than he shouldn't be flying and he shouldn't own a ultra light. My friend crashes into his woods over his farm about 6 years ago when his ultra light motor quit right as he was coming in for landing.

i own my own shop, been burnt many times!!
make sure he signs a disclaimer stating that
you are not responsible if for instance he
mixes gas wrong or whatever.
we all know how people are! he'll come at
you with his mistakes if it crashes! just sayin bud

for sure lawyer is drafting up a disclaimer for him already. i did however get him to understand the difference in parts so should be good jugs will be done today then ill order parts and put it all together. side note hes also trying to get me to pull his glider behind my sled after the lakes freeze not sure i want to be involved in that one!! but would be cool to watch

He gave in, and is going to put a whole new electrical system, pistons are oem and winderosa gasket set have the bottom done had crank checked so by next wk she should be done! I've got full build pics I'm going to make a slide and put online when finished. Also still looking for a good pipe.

piece if mind and the fact the stock harness has way more than he needs for it. That and the sled say it in the yard for 3 years
