It will leave a residue in the allum and will make the belt slip!

But it will rinse off with hot water.
So, if you do use it, rinse with hot water after.

i use gunk engine cleaner on the inside sheaves of my clutch. make sure not to spray it in the clutch but to spray it on a cloth and wipe it so you dont get it on anything that could be damaged by the heavy duty spray. this gets rid of rubber burnt onto the inside of the sheaves from burning belts, and gets rid of any oily substances that shouldnt be there. also use a green scotch brite pad to gently scrub the inside just enough to roughen it up a little, you can do same for secondary clutch also.
