98 Polaris xc 700 Rebuild

Need to rebuild this sled I burned down as I can not afford to have a shop do it due to child, mortgage and all other adult responsibilities.

Warning I am kind of a mechanical idiot, but think I can do this.
History: Running the sled at 96 mph for about two minutes riding Canadian with my buddy who was out from Boston (was almost worth the burn down when he could not open his hand from the shape of the grip for 15 seconds combined with the look of horror on his face when we finally stopped). Pulled the head cover, nickel sized hole in the pistons pin hole in the other. Sled sat for two years. I am assuming I should check the bottom end. How should I do this and what should I look for? Also all I saw online for top end rebuild kits was Wiseco $295. Anything cheaper and or better? Hopefully cheaper.

Thanks for any help. I have another version of the same sled that I can strip parts from to put on mine. It burned down also with hole in piston and cylinder scaring. Plan to rob the track 144 and switch out my 121. Risers, I assume I will have to switch the fuel lines also. And pow skis.
