Electric Start solenoid

Hello

I have a Yamaha Inviter 300. The P.O. removed the battery and the starter solenoid got damaged by the clutch......it somehow came loose from the mounting bracket..........I have pictures.....

Anyway, can I just replace the solenoid or do I need to replace the whole thing, wire harness and all? Also where is a good place to get this part. I have seen it new online for around $60....that seems high to me......

Thanks

You'd probably need the original to make all the wires match up, but check the misc parts section of this forum and click on parts links to see if any aftermarkets make them.

Got it......I think

Snowmobile batteries are the same as tractor batteries? Is that what you mean?

My solenoid is busted open due to being damaged by the clutch rubbing against it.....I can't tell for sure where the wires go or how many connection there are. I have replaced Ford solenoids before, most have four terminals, are snowmobile solenoids four terminals?

Thanks

Your solenoid looks like more that 4 terminals? (2 large and 2 small)

Any place to find a wiring diagram?

Hello and thank you.

Is there anywhere to find a wiring diagram? It doesn't appear to be a simple connect 4 wires job. The solenoid mounts on a plate, which has a block, almost like a heat sink, with two leads going into it. It looks like the red positive from the battery goes to the top, it got severed by the clutch.

If you look at the picture, there appears to be multiple wires going to this thing, maybe 6?????

Any other input will be appreciated.

Thanks

You camera might have a close-up setting, symbol usually looks like a single flower. Try that and re-post.
