So, having bought this sled for not a lot of money and knowing it needed new head gaskets, I finally got chance to get it done. I've spent quite a while on various forums as a guest reading about the various issues with them and how to troubleshoot. First of all, previous owner had installed the gaskets wrong (don't know how that is even possible) hence the leak. Got all the heads and jug facings cleaned up nicely, new gaskets on the water manifold. Getting the head bolts torqued down, and one of the smaller ones sheared. No worries, 7 others holding it in place, and no leaks from it. Put the battery on (I always take it off when I'm done using the sled as the ignition switch is wonky) cranked her and away she went. 20 minutes later, no leaks, bit of smoke from spilled coolant on the exhaust, all good. So I thought....
Got on it, gave it some gas, bogged and died on the spot. Had another sled to fix so I left it for 20 minutes or so. When i came back to it, started 2nd pull, ran 15 seconds and died. I checked spark - all good. Compression - all good. Kill switch - bypassed (previous owner). Everything, for about an hour, I checked and double checked.
Turns out, I'd forgot to put bloody gas in it...... Runs like a dream now.

Thanks for having a solid tech section though, I've never worked on sleds before now.
