Question Studs Question - Ice and Turning

I mostly ride on my frozen lake in VT osally after the first snowfall it's like riding on an open field. This year my Bro was making a turn and slid and flipped the sled breaking the shield.

QUESTION: Would studs make turning better for turns or would I still slide on the ice under the snow? Or are the studs mostly for acceleration.

Studs will help with traction (accel & braking) for the rear; you need to install carbide runners on the front skis to help with steering. If you use lots of studs, you will need longer carbides to keep the handling balance.

i noticed a lot of push from my studs on a slick lake.i think they may have hurt me with sharp turns, but help with acceleration/stopping. he's right, you have to balance out studs and carbide.

When my Brother flipped the sled, the track started to slided out during a turn (spin-out/fish tail) and he hit a little ripple/snow bump that caught the sled which mad him turn the sled over.

If there were studs, do you think he wound have fish tailed?
