144 down the middle?

Does anyone know of a pattern that runs 144 studs down the middle? I have a Fusion that needs some more traction. I want to stay away from the outer belts for now, but will like to upgrade to 196 if I decide I want the outer belts studded too.

I have not found a pattern for 144 on the inside, If you know of a pattern, can you please point me in the right direction.

Do I just use a 196 pattern and then not drill the outer belts to get my 144 inside?

also is that to many studs for the fusion? I am a pretty agressive trail rider that runs on groomed trails with icey corners most of the time

I am looking at woody's mega-bite 1.325 studs with 7.5" shapper runners from studboy.

you can run them down the middle, I have heard people have done this before. 96 is probly enough for anyone.

Lamby,
I'd studs the outside as well....I tried running 144 down the middle the first of the year and just spun like crazy......I may have a little more aggressive sled than yours but i'd still say your goin to spin.Unless just trail riding.if racing stud outside and go with 192.

please dont stud on the outside of the rails, it will just ruin your track. You will spin regardless of how many studs you have.

I've got studs on the outside of my track, 196 total and have had no damage to the track in 6400 miles. I ride mostly trails and lakes, all fairly agressively, without any trouble so far.

if you are going to stud the outside, make sure you do it right. it has to be perfect to avoid damage. i didnt think you could put 144 down the middle, but im not an expert on studs.

Thanks for all the sugestions guys, so the majority think 144 - 196 total studs and across all three belts. I guess it falls under the belief that there might be more pull-outs in the outer belts.

tracks are not too expensive, would it be better to buy a new camoplast ripsaw that has pre molded holes (144 across all three belts) and sell the used (600 miles) tracks?

any input on my stud/carbide sugestion? (mega-bites and shaper bars?)

Thanks again guys,

I will do that then 144 in mine and 96 in the girlfriends machine.

Now I just have to see if POO will fix the worn spindles, sticking clutch, vibrating engine, and correct this slow top end with a snowcheck

Of course there might be a new pipe and fuel management in mine come next winter (after the warrenty work of course)

What's the concern about studding the outside? I have been doing the outside on every sled I own for over 20 years no problems. Why not just stud the outside and inside with a 144 pattern and be done with it. You always have the option of adding another 48 later.

i run 196 down the middle, but then again there ice pics for ice only. hardly any spin on take off, unless the ice is soft.

Thanks again Guys.

I think the people that are picking the outside have the right idea. tracks are not that expensive if you shred one, and I think the increased traction would be worth it. I am just an agressive trail rider and I think that 196 may be too many for hard pack with slick corners.

tracks might not be expensive, but bulk head replacements and motor failures are.

Yeah, It will stick hard in the corners with 196. You'll just have to put a little more grunt down when cornering.
