Carbides/studs

I looked up the Woody's website and this is what they recommended for my sled:

********************************************

I occusionally like to ride aggressively with some trail riding so I think intermediate application would be the right one? I originally would like to put 96 studs but Woody's recommend 144. I don't know about the carbides part... should I go with 6" or 8"? Keep on mind that I have 1.25" track.

Can you explain how I should select the stud type - single and double? I'd like to keep the studs to inside track only so it'd be easier to slide in turns and less chance of ripping apart the track. I looked at Woody's template diagrams and there are a couple different patterns to keep all 144 studs to the inside section of track. The first one has three single studs on each line and the other has two single studs on one line, and two double studs on the next line. What is the difference in performance? Which would be better? Thanks.

well I would recomend you just stick with the 96 and 6inches of carbide. You are right on the money about keeping the studs to the inside, are you sure you can put all 144 in the middle? Also I would go with the double backer patteren, they hold the studs straighter than he singles do. Also get some support nuts so you studs wont bend. Personaly I like stud boy.

Thanks for your suggestion. I just thought that 144 would be a bit of overkill so that's why I asked. Anyway 96 studs and 6" carbides will be what I'm looking to upgrade.

Iwas looking at my buddies owners manual for his sled, and it had stud diagrams in it. Take a look at your owners manual and see what the factory recommends

I've got a Yamaha Apex GT with a 121 x 15 x 1.25 and the local tech recommended 168 6" trailblazer carbides for me. 168 on a 121 seems like way too much unless you're racing or need super performance. My riding is, like the rider below... mostly trail riding with the occasional aggressive riding.

Thoughs? Thanks for your feedback.

120 would be enough.
